Lombardy has the most extensive waterway system in Italy, with its ten flowing rivers and many streams. A big river is the Po that, with its 260 km lenght, is the most important river crossing Lombardy. Another river is the Ticino which marks the region’s western border and is the region's largest protected area.

Lombardy is not just rich in rivers, there are lots of parks and recreation areas, too. Next to the Oglio river, for example, there is the Adamello Natural Park with beautiful landscape and unique waterfalls (Miller Falls).
